Claude Team plan: price, seats, Claude Code and limits
Updated 9 min read
The Claude Team plan costs $25 a month for a standard seat billed monthly, or $20 a month billed annually. A premium seat has 5x the usage of a standard one and costs $125 a month billed monthly or $100 billed annually. A team needs at least 2 seats and can have up to 150. Every seat includes Claude Code, and Anthropic does not train on Team content by default.
The figures here are from Anthropic’s pricing page and help center as of 12 October 2026. Prices are for US customers, before tax.
How much does the Claude Team plan cost?
| Seat | Billed monthly | Billed annually | Usage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $25 a seat a month | $20 a seat a month | 1.25x Pro’s per-session allowance |
| Premium | $125 a seat a month | $100 a seat a month | 6.25x Pro’s per-session allowance |
The seat rules, from the pricing page and Anthropic’s Team plan article:
- Minimum 2 seats, maximum 150. Past 150, Anthropic points you to Enterprise.
- You can mix seat types: premium for heavy users, standard for everyone else.
- Billing is monthly or annual, by credit card (no ACH or invoicing). Seats can be added mid-term.
- Prices vary by region; claude.ai/upgrade shows yours.
- The pricing page lists trials only for sales-assisted Enterprise.
- Team includes up to $500 a month in pooled API credits for the Claude Platform. Anthropic’s Claude Code article says these credits cannot be spent in Claude Code or the Claude apps.
When a page quotes “$25 to $125”, that is the monthly-billed range from standard to premium. Anthropic’s pages do not show a $30 seat price today.
Are Team plan usage limits per person or shared?
Per person, so one member running out does not affect anyone else. Both seat types have a session allowance plus a weekly limit across all models, and the weekly limit resets at a fixed time each week (Settings, then Usage).
When someone hits a limit, the organization can turn on usage credits so members keep working in Claude, Cowork and Claude Code. Spend caps can be set for the whole organization and for each member.
Claude Team vs Pro, Max and Enterprise
| Pro | Max | Team | Enterprise (self-serve) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually ($200 up front) | From $100 a month | $20 to $25 standard, $100 to $125 premium, per seat | $20 a seat a month billed annually, plus usage at API rates |
| People | 1 | 1 | 2 to 150 | Large organizations |
| Usage | More than Free | 5x or 20x Pro | Per member, by seat type | Billed at API rates, no per-seat limit |
| Claude Code | Yes | Yes | Yes, every seat | Yes |
| Project sharing | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Central billing, usage analytics, SSO | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| SCIM, audit logs, Compliance API, role-based access | No | No | No | Yes |
| Model training on your content | Opt-out | Opt-out | None by default | None by default |
| Billing | Monthly or annual | Monthly | Monthly or annual, card | Annual, card or ACH |
Pro and Max are for one person. Team fits two or more people who want shared projects, one bill, usage analytics and no training on their content by default. Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs, custom data retention, IP allowlisting, a HIPAA-ready option and more than 150 seats.
Anthropic’s two pages disagree on a few Team items. The help center’s Team article lists role-based permissioning, domain capture and just-in-time provisioning, and a 200k context window. The pricing page marks role-based access and domain capture as Enterprise only and shows a context window of up to 1M tokens, depending on the model. The table follows the pricing page. If one of these items decides your purchase, ask Anthropic before you buy.
Standard or premium seats: does the Team plan include Claude Code?
Yes, on every seat. When Anthropic brought Claude Code to Team and Enterprise in August 2025, it came with premium seats only. The help center now says “Claude Code is included with every Team plan seat”, and premium seats add usage. Older threads and blog posts that say you need premium for Claude Code describe the 2025 setup.
Anthropic’s docs give these steps for a member to sign Claude Code in to the team account (we have not run a Team plan):
claude
# choose "Claude account with subscription", pick the Team organization, click Authorize
# already signed in to another account? run /login inside the session
The seat also covers the Claude Code extensions for VS Code, Cursor and JetBrains IDEs, with the same limits. From Claude Code v2.1.273, skills and plugins your organization provides load in Claude Code automatically. Claude Code for teams covers sharing settings and instructions.
Start everyone on standard seats and move the people who keep hitting their weekly limit to premium.
How do owners manage a Team plan?
Roles, from Anthropic’s roles and permissions article: each organization has one Primary Owner (who uses a seat and can be a service account), plus Owners and members. Owners and the Primary Owner invite and remove members, change roles, pay invoices, turn on connectors and project sharing, and see usage analytics. Only the Primary Owner can request a data export or an ownership transfer.
Usage analytics open from your initials in the lower left, then Analytics. They show weekly active members, PRs created in Claude Code, connector use with read and write counts, MCP writes and spend. Owners can export a spend report as a CSV, per member and per model, going back up to 90 days.
To cancel, an Owner or the Primary Owner goes to Organization settings, then Billing. The team keeps access to the end of the current billing cycle and is not charged again. After cancelling you can no longer remove members yourself (Anthropic support does it), and new monthly API credits stop.
What does a Claude team share, and what stays per person?
| Shared across the team | Stays with each person |
|---|---|
| Public projects: their instructions and knowledge | Chats, including chats inside shared projects |
| Private projects, with the people invited to them | Memory, which each member turns on for themselves |
| Organization instructions and skills | Usage limits |
| The list of connectors an owner adds | Each person’s sign-in to each connector |
| Billing and the pooled API credits | Claude Code, on each person’s machine |
A team shares context through projects. Everyone in the organization can find and use a public project; a private one is open only to people invited with “Can view” or “Can edit”. Sharing a project shares its instructions and knowledge, but your chats in it stay private unless you share them. Owners can turn off public projects or project sharing.
Memory is per person. On Team, owners decide whether memory is available, and it stays off for each member until they turn it on. Each project has its own memory space, kept apart from other chats. Anthropic notes that memory is kept under the organization’s retention policy and that admins can export it. Our Claude memory guide covers what it holds.
Claude Code runs in each person’s terminal, signed in with their own seat. Its instructions and memory live in files on each machine and in your repositories; our guides to CLAUDE.md and Claude Code memory cover both. None of the Anthropic pages we read say that Claude Code reads a claude.ai project’s knowledge.
The projects in chat are the same for everyone, but each person’s Claude and Claude Code learn separately. What one member’s Claude found out on Tuesday is not available to a colleague’s Claude Code on Wednesday unless someone writes it down where both can read it.
How do connectors work on the Team plan?
Team includes Anthropic’s connectors for Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, GitHub, Microsoft 365 and Slack, and enterprise search across Slack, Microsoft 365 and custom connectors.
Custom connectors are remote MCP servers. On Team, only Owners and the Primary Owner can add one, from Anthropic’s steps:
- Open Organization settings, then Connectors, and click Add.
- Hover over Custom, select Web, and enter a name and the server’s URL.
- Review the authentication Claude detected, choose how people sign in, and add request headers only if the server needs a fixed credential.
- Click Add.
Each member then opens Customize, then Connectors, clicks Connect on it, and turns it on per chat under +, then Connectors. Because each member signs in separately, Claude reaches only what that person can; a shared API key in a request header gives everyone that key’s access instead.
Claude reaches the server from Anthropic’s cloud, so it must be reachable over the public internet from Anthropic’s IP ranges. To change a connector, remove it and add it again. The Claude connectors guide covers the rest.
Give every member’s Claude the same wiki
One custom connector an owner adds can give everyone’s Claude the same context outside chat. Dexio is a hosted, open source (AGPL-3.0) wiki that AI agents read and write through MCP: Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others work on the same linked markdown pages, and people see what their agents know as a page graph.
On a Team plan, Dexio’s docs say an owner adds it for everyone under Organization settings, then Connectors, with the URL https://app.dexio.wiki/mcp. Dexio signs Claude connectors in with OAuth, so leave request headers empty. Each member clicks Connect, signs in on Dexio’s page, picks the team’s workspace and clicks Allow access. Because every member signs in as themselves, the wiki’s history shows which person and which agent wrote each change.
Claude Code connects to the same server from the terminal. It can do the setup itself from Dexio’s agent instructions, whose Claude Code step is:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user dexio https://app.dexio.wiki/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer dxk_..."
The Claude Code MCP guide covers scopes and checking the connection.
People join a Dexio workspace by email invite under Settings, then Members. It is free for one person, then $10 (Team) or $20 (Business) a member a month; agents never count as members.
We connected Claude to Dexio as a custom connector with a real sign-in on 28 September 2026, on an individual plan. We have not run a Claude Team plan, so the owner steps come from Anthropic’s and Dexio’s docs.
If your team only works in Claude chat and the shared context is a few reference files, a public Claude project does the job at no extra cost. A wiki is worth adding when Claude Code and your other agents need the same pages as chat, and you want to see and correct what they wrote.
FAQ
What is the minimum number of users on the Claude Team plan?
Two seats. The maximum is 150; beyond that, Anthropic points teams to Enterprise.
Is the Claude Team plan worth it over Pro for two people?
Two standard seats cost $50 a month billed monthly or $40 billed annually; two Pro plans cost $40 or $34. Team adds 1.25x Pro’s per-session usage, shared projects, one bill, usage analytics and no model training on your content by default.
Can Team admins read my chats?
In the app, your chats are private unless you share them, even inside shared projects. But the Primary Owner can request a data export, and Anthropic says memory and incognito chats are included in organizational exports.
Anthropic does not train on Team content by default; Free, Pro and Max are opt-out.
